Sato International Scholarship Foundation, for October 2011/April 2012 scholar

Qualifications:

1. Self-supporting international students from countries specified by the foundation (see below for the list of specified countries), who are/ will be enrolled in the regular course. (With a “College Student” visa)
2. With enough Japanese language ability for study/research.
3. Enrollment period of the course currently enrolled in should be more than one year from October 2011 (However, this does not apply for those enrolled in the doctoral course).
4. Parents should not be working in Japan.
5. Not holding a doctorate degree.
6. Interested in international understanding and friendship and able to participate in the foundation’s exchange activities.
7. Not receiving any other scholarships.

However, students who are receiving a scholarship this academic year, but will not receive any after April 2012 are eligible to apply for April 2012 scholar.

Countries specified by the foundation:Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, East Timor, Vietnam

Scholarship amount per month:

• 120,000 Yen (undergraduate students)
• 180,000 Yen (graduate students) – A grant for participating in academic conference will also be provided.

All eligible applicants will be recommended from the university.

Scholarship grant period:

• October 2011 scholar: October 2011 ~ September 2013 (two years)
• April 2012 scholar: April 2012 ~ March 2014 (two years)

Deadline for application: Submit all necessary documents to International Student Section by August 19, 2011 (Fri).
However, the first-year students who will be enrolled from October 2011 can apply until September 2, 2011 (Fri).

Applicants are expected to abide by the deadline and submit application on time.

3. Recommendation Letter (Form 3 should be sealed by the supervising professor)

6. Enrollment Certificate/Notification of Passing
7. Academic Record Certificate from the first year of undergraduate course to the course currently enrolled- Certificates from home countries should be submitted along with Japanese/English translation.
8. Research Plan (One page in the A4 sized paper, in Japanese)
9. Abstract of Research (One page in the A4 sized paper, in Japanese)
10. Research achievement (One page in the A4 sized paper, in Japanese)

2012 – 2013 Global Undergraduate Exchange Program Global UGRAD

The Office of Academic Exchange Programs in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U. S. Department of State, is pleased to announce a new exchange program for undergraduate students-the 2012 Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD)

The Global UGRAD Program provides scholarships for one semester or one academic year of U.S. Study in a NON-DEGREE Program. The goals of the program are to provide a diverse group of emerging student leaders, from non-elite and underrepresented groups in Indonesia and East Asia.

All global UGRAD Program participants will be enrolled full-time in undergraduate course work chosen from the institution’s (US) existing curriculum to allow students ample opportunity for ongoing interaction with U.S. Faculty and student peers, and for exposure to U.S. academic and classroom culture.

To ensure that students succeed in their new academic environments, host institutions will offer tailored instruction on topics including academic research and writing, critical thinking, time management, note taking, and studying for and taking tests. Participants will live on campus with American peers.

Students will also be provided with opportunities to participate in up to ten hours of community service per semester. Additionally, an internship component will be offered to all academic-year participants during the academic component of the program. Internships will be related to each participant’s field of study and/or career plans.

Participants may be eligible for up to 4 weeks of intensive English Language instruction in the United States prior to the start of academic portion of their program.

Eligibility:

1. Scholarships will be granted to students who currently are enrolled in S-1 degree programs only, and have completed their first semester and up to their firth semester of undergraduate study at an Indonesian university.
2. Applicants should demonstrate leadership potential through academic work, community involvement, and extracurricular activities.
3. Applicants must have minimum ITP/IBT TOEFL score of 500-score or IELTS 5.0 less than two years old. In some cases a personal interview by a fluent qualified Native English Speaker who can confirm that the nominee would be able to achieve that score when tested is acceptable. Candidates must also meet all the requirements of the institution where admission is being sought.
4. Preference will be given to those who have had little or NO experience in the U.S. or outside of their home countries.
5. Applications can be for either for one semester or two semesters based on nominee’s availability. No applications should be submitted for both one semester and full year programs.
6. Applicants are required to return to Indonesia after the completion of the one or two semester program.

b. Lulusan SMA/MA/SMK/SPK atau yang setara baik negeri atau swasta yang disamakan/terakreditasi.

c. Belum pernah kawin dan sanggup tidak kawin selama dalam pendidikan pertama.

d. Memiliki tinggi badan sekurang-kurangnya 165 Cm untuk pria dan 160 Cm untuk wanita serta memiliki berat badan seimbang menurut ketentuan yang berlaku.

e.Bersedia menjalani Ikatan Dinas Pertama (IDP) selama 10 tahun.

f. Bersedia ditempatkan diseluruh wilayah Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia.

g.Harus ada surat persetujuan dari orang tua/wali. Bagi calon yang menggunakan wali agar diisi keterangan sesuai dengan yang menjadi wali yaitu : Bapak tiri/Kakak/Paman/Bibi dengan meneliti KTP orang tua/wali (sesuai Surat Keputusan Panglima TNI Nomor Skep/57/II/2003 tanggal 24 Februari 2003).

h.Harus mengikuti pemeriksaan/pengujian yang diselenggarakan oleh panitia penerimaan yang meliputi.:

1) Administrasi.

2) Kesehatan.

3) Jasmani.

4) Wawancara.

5) Psikologi.

3 PERSYARATAN TAMBAHAN

a. Bagi yang memperoleh ijazah dari negara lain, harus mendapat pengesahan dari Depdiknas.

b. Tidak bertato/bekas tato dan tidak ditindik/bekas tindik telinganya atau anggota badan lainnya, kecuali yang disebabkan oleh ketentuan agama/adat.

c. Bagi yang sudah bekerja :

1) Melampirkan surat persetujuan/ijin dari kepala dinas/jawatan/Instansi yang bersangkutan.

2) Bersedia diberhentikan dari status pegawai, bila diterima menjadi Bintara PK TNI AD.

d. Bersedia mentaati peraturan bebas KKN baik langsung maupun tidak langsung dan apabila terbukti secara hukum melanggar sebagaimana yang dimaksud maka bersedia dinyatakan tidak lulus dan atau dikeluarkan dari Dikma jika pelanggaran tersebut diketemukan dikemudian hari pada saat mengikuti pendidikan pertama.
